In rural India, gender inequality remains a pervasive issue that affects women and girls in various ways, from limited educational opportunities to social and economic exclusion. At Chatia College in Sootea, Biswanath, Assam, we believe that promoting gender sensitization is essential for creating a more equitable and just society.
To achieve this goal, our college has implemented various measures to promote gender sensitization among students, faculty, and staff. Here are some of the key practices we follow:
We offer academic programs of the Gauhati University of Assam that incorporate gender-sensitive perspectives and content to provide a more inclusive and diverse learning experience. Various courses focus on gender issues, women's empowerment, and social justice, among others.
We organize workshops, seminars, and other awareness programs that aim to sensitize students and staff to gender issues and promote gender equality. We also celebrate International Women's Day and other gender-related events to raise awareness and foster a culture of respect and inclusivity.
We have established a safe and secure campus environment for all students, including measures such as CCTV surveillance, security personnel at the gate, and a dedicated Grievance Redressal Cell to address any incidents of gender-based discrimination or harassment.
We offer various initiatives to promote women's empowerment and encourage female students to pursue their goals and aspirations. These include facilitating scholarships via the NSP portal, mentoring programs, and leadership training programs, among others.
