BOOK FAIR 2022

Organized by Chatia College, Sootea, Assam in association with Abha Publication, Biswanath Chariali.

A book fair was organized by Chatia College from 1st to 3rd of November 2022 in association with Abha Publication, Biswanath Chariali, Assam. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Ganesh Pathak, President, Governing Body, Chatia College.

The book fair was organized with a view to make most of the books prescribed in the syllabus available to the students since they are a scarcity in the local book shops of the region. The students of all the departments of the institution are greatly benefitted due to the book fair and the fair has been able to attract students from the nearby schools and colleges.

CHATIA COLLEGE HOSTS WORKSHOP ON “RESEARCH PROJECT PREPARATION”

Chatia College in Sootea, Biswanath, Assam recently hosted a One-Day Workshop on “Research Project Preparation” on the 3rd of April, 2023. The workshop was organized by the Research Committee and Publication Board, and was sponsored by the IQAC, Chatia College.

The Resource Person for the workshop was Dr. Punya Lata Gohain, an Assistant Professor from the Department of Assamese at Dr. B.K.B. College, Puranigudam, Nagaon, Assam. The workshop was presided over by Dr. Swapan Kumar Kalita, the Principal-in-charge of Chatia College, Mr. Anuj Kr. Saikia, Vice-Principal, and Mr. Mukut Hazarika, the Coordinator of IQAC.

The Welcome Address was given by Dr. Surajit Saikia, an Assistant Professor from the Department of Assamese at Chatia College. The Resource Person was felicitated by Dr. Anushree Adhikary, the Chairperson of the Research Committee and Publication Board at Chatia College, and Dr. Kangkan Bhuyan, an Assistant Professor from the Department of English at Chatia College.

More than 60 students from the B.A. 4th and 6th semesters participated in the workshop. The workshop was designed to help students understand the basics of research project preparation, including how to choose a research topic, how to develop research questions, and how to structure research projects.

During the workshop, Dr. Punya Lata Gohain shared her expertise on the topic and engaged students in various activities designed to help them develop their research skills. Students were also given the opportunity to ask questions and interact with Dr. Gohain, which provided them with valuable insights and feedback. Among the esteemed guests, Dr. Babita Baruah and Ms. Jintimoni Neog, Assistant Professors from the Departments of Assamese and Sanskrit respectively, also graced the occasion with their generous presence.

The workshop was a great success, and received positive feedback from both the participants and the organizers. Dr. Anushree Adhikary gave the Vote of Thanks, expressing her gratitude to Dr. Punya Lata Gohain for sharing her expertise, and to all the participants for their enthusiastic participation.

Overall, the workshop on “Research Project Preparation” at Chatia College was an informative and engaging event, providing students with a valuable opportunity to develop their research skills and learn from an expert in the field.


The ICT Cell of Chatia College, in collaboration with the ICT Academy of Chennai, organized a virtual power seminar on the topic "Efficient Use of Internet in the Modern Era." The event was held on 12-04-2023 from 1 pm onwards and was attended by many students and faculty members.

Shasanka Medhi, Associate, North-East Branch, ICT Academy moderated the event and introduced the Resource Person to the attendees.
Dr. Kangkan Bhuyan, the Coordinator of the ICT Cell of Chatia College, delivered the welcome note at the beginning of the seminar. He expressed his gratitude to the attendees for joining the event and highlighted the significance of the topic. The keynote address was given by Mr. Mukut Hazarika, the Coordinator of IQAC, Chatia College. He emphasized the importance of the efficient use of the internet in today's world, particularly in education and business.
The Resource Person, Mr. Unnikrishnan Rajappan, Deputy General Manager, HR, Astro Vision Futuretech Pvt. Ltd. then delivered a speech on how to use the internet efficiently. His speech focused on various aspects of internet usage, including browsing, online communication, and security. The attendees actively participated in the discussion, raising their queries and concerns, and receiving clarification from the resource person.
Mr. Subhash Upadhyaya, the State Head of ICT Academy, North East, delivered the vote of thanks at the end of the seminar. acknowledging the importance of organizing such events to educate people on the efficient use of the internet.
Overall, the virtual power seminar proved to be informative and engaging. The event provided a platform for attendees to learn and discuss various aspects of internet usage and its significance in today's world.


The Career Guidance & Counselling Cell, Chatia College organized an Awareness Programme on “JOBS & CAREER IN 2023” in collaboration with the Skill Employment & Entrepreneurship Department, Employment Exchange, Biswanath Chariali, Govt. of Assam, on 27-04-2023 from 11 am.

Mr. Bhupesh Kumar Chetry, Programme Officer, Career Guidance & Counselling Cell, Chatia College, gave the welcome speech and highlighted the importance of organizing the event.
Among the notable speakers in the event, Ms. Atlanta Borah, Mahatma Gandhi National Fellow, Skill Employment & Entrepreneurship Department, addressed the students and deliberated on the need to bring about a drastic change in the lives of the students by becoming more career-oriented in their lives.
From the Employment Exchange, Biswanath Chariali, Mr. Buddhadev Borah, Statistical Assistant, and Mr. Mansing Phangcho, Junior Assistant, were also present in the event and interacted with the audience.
Junior Warrant Officer and Corporal Ravi S. made a wonderful presentation on the ‘Agniveer’ scheme of the Indian Air Force, Govt. of India, detailing the whole application process and eligibility and evaluation criteria.

Among the faculty members of the institution, Mr. Haresh Regon, Coordinator of the Training and Placement Cell, and Dr. Kangkan Bhuyan, Coordinator of the ICT Cell graced the event that was attended by more than 60 students. The event was a huge success and was applauded by the student fraternity of the institution.


The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Chatia College, Sootea, Biswanath, Assam, 784175 organized an awareness programme on preparedness for the NAAC Peer Team Visit on April 29, 2023. The event started at 11 am and was attended by all the teaching and non-teaching staff of the institution, along with the President of the Governing Body, Mr. Ganesh Pathak.

The Coordinator of the IQAC, Mukut Hazarika, welcomed the attendees and initiated the programme. Two eminent resource persons, Dr. Ajit Hazarika, Principal of THB College, and Dr. Jayanta Baruah, Associate Professor of the Department of Political Science at THB College, enlightened the attendees on the preparations required for the upcoming NAAC Peer Team Visit, which is scheduled to take place on May 23 and 24, 2023.
The faculty members, Ms. Mala Bordoloi, Ms. Jintimoni Neog, and Ms. Neelima Das, felicitated the two resource persons for sharing their insights on the subject.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks from Mr. Mukut Hazarika, who expressed his gratitude for the productive deliberations by the resource persons. The event was a great success, and it provided the attendees with valuable insights into the preparations needed for the upcoming NAAC Peer Team Visit.
