In response to the growing public demand and enthusiasm in the selected student community to learn the Nepali Language and Literature, the Chatia college authority had taken a step to start the teaching Nepali Language in the year 2004. Since then the college has been conducting regular classes of Nepal (MIL) up to under-graduate level with Shri Homnath Nepal as its founder teacher after whom a few years later Dr. Daibaki Devi joined the department on 03-10-2004 as an Assistant Professor in the department. The department since its inception has been conducting classes in Modern Indian Language (MIL) in Nepali. Nepali as a Major subject was introduced in Chatia College from 2020-21.
