The Department of English of Chatia College organized a one-day workshop for the students of B.A. 1st Semester English Communication on 26-03-2022 at 1 pm.
Dr. Naresh Thakur, Associate Professor & Head of the Department of English, Biswanath College, was invited as the Resource Person for the workshop. His illuminating deliberations focused on the gradually changing scenario of the Education sector with the advent of the New Education Policy and what can be expected after its implementation in Assam. Stressing on the need for ability enhancing courses like English Communication in today’s competitive world, Dr. Thakur is positive that the AECC of Gauhati University will help to boost the employability of graduate students.
The workshop was presided over by Mr. Anuj Kumar Saikia, Vice-Principal, Chatia College who praised the efforts of the Department of English in bringing the event to life. The Head of the Department of English, Dr. Anjal Boruah, gave the welcome address and Ms. Ali Pathak, Assistant Professor, Department of English conducted the felicitation ceremony. The Resource Person’s lecture was followed by a Question & Answer session where participating students interacted with Dr. Naresh Thakur who answered every question to the utmost satisfaction of all present. The Vote of Thanks was presented by Dr. Kangkan Bhuyan, Assistant Professor, Department of English, who while thanking the Resource Person for his insightful presentation, acknowledged the contribution of all those who worked hard to make the workshop a success.
12TH FEBRUARY 2022 AT 11.30 AM - 1.00 PM
The Information and Communication Technology Cell of Chatia College in collaboration with ICT Academy, Tamil Nadu, organized a “Virtual power Seminar” for the students of all the semesters. The topic of the seminar, “Future of Work”, aimed at giving the students a comprehensive idea on how the work environment in most sectors has shifted from the confines of offices to the homes of the employees and wherever they feel most comfortable in.
Initially the seminar was organized to enable the students to attend from the comfort of their homes and for which they were required to register for the event beforehand. The teachers of the college familiarised the students with the online registration process and encouraged more and more students to register for the same. However, a great number of students who did not have a smartphone in their homes expressed an interest to attend the event. The ICT Cell with the help of the IQAC of Chatia College, arranged for the event to be live-streamed in a classroom where all the interested students were able to participate in the event.
The seminar was inaugurated by the Vice-principal of Chatia College, Mr. Anuj Kumar Saikia who welcomed the participating students as well as the three distinguished speakers of the seminar stressing on the need of organizing more virtual events which would enable students of rural institutions have access to knowledge beyond their own institution, region, and state.
The first speaker, Lovetesh Kumar, Project manager of ICT Academy, discussed the changing future of the working environments in India and the world and how it allows for more flexibility in working hours and thereby increasing the amount of work done.
The second speaker, Sagar Radhi, Associate Principal, Bristlecone, gave a comprehensive idea regarding what to expect in the post-pandemic world job sector. He actively engaged the students in a lively session encouraging one and all to participate by answering poll questions in the chat box and himself answering questions posted by students.
The third speaker, Hemant Lamba, Manager, Veritas, gave a glimpse of how to approach the various job sectors of the pandemic-hit world touching upon the newly emerged and gradually emerging opportunities for job-seekers.
Mr. Biplob Dasgupta, Relationship Manager- North East, ICT Academy, co-hosted the seminar. At the conclusion of the event, Dr. Kangkan Bhuyan, Coordinator of ICT Cell, Chatia College, extended a hearty vote of thanks to the organizing fraternity of Chatia College and ICT Academy, the three distinguished speakers for their thoughtful deliberations, hoping for a long-term association with ICT Academy to conduct more of such student-centric events.
The Department of English in collaboration with the IQAC, Chatia College, organized a “Parent-Teacher Meet” on 21-02-2022 at 12.30 pm.
The meeting was organized by the department as part of its quality assurance initiatives to sensitize the parents and guardians of the students regarding most of the following pressing issues:
The above issues were introduced in the meeting by the Head of the Department of English, Dr. Anjal Boruah, who welcomed and thanked the parents and guardians for taking time from their busy schedules to visit the department. He was joined in the discussion by his fellow faculty members of the department Ms. Ali Pathak and Dr. Kangkan Bhuyan who also appealed to the guardians to be in regular contact with the department so that a harmonious teaching-learning environment can be developed in the institution.
